Easy read is a way of presenting information so that people who have difficulty reading can understand it.
Why is easy read important?
The letters, leaflets, reports, guidance notes, surveys and other information published by organisations every day might be lost on over 20% of the people they need to reach
- One in six adults in the UK struggle with literacy
- One in seven school children in the UK do not have English as their first language
- More than 1.5m people in the UK have learning difficulties
